Hi, my name is David White, class of 1990 and a member of the Board of Trustees. I know
that the on-campus community right now is in the last stage of final exams, in which
to-do lists are long and time is short. But I did want to take a moment, on behalf of
the Board, to send this note of thanks. It was about ten days ago that we were on
campus for our meetings and the Selah ceremony and all of the activities that surround that.
It was a wonderful time, with just incredible enthusiasm and energy on the campus. And it
was great to be back on Mac Field. It was a moment, as the tradition of Selah
calls for, for us to pause and reflect on the last twelve years of great progress that
has been made and on the next phase of our journey; as a college and as a community.
We wanted to send a note of thanks to those who helped to plan the weekend, and particularly
for those who came to participate. Our staff, our faculty, our students, members
of the broader community and their family members, who came to participate in events
that can readily be described as fun and even goofy. When you think about the petting zoo,
the bouncy slide, those students who dressed up and tried to beat each other up in sumo
outfits. It was all great fun and represented what's best about Grinnell.
So, with that we wanted to say "Thank you, we wish you well in your exams. We wish you
great fun and good learning over the course of the summer. And we will look forward to
seeing you in the fall when we are back on campus."
Take care and good luck.
