This demo shows you how to automatically share records with a group of users based on a field
value in a record For example, you might want to share opportunities
with your Finance team, but only after they've been marked as closed/won.
You might want to share all job applications where the position contains the word "Marketing"
with the Marketing group. In this example we'll share all of the accounts
in the western region with the western region call center reps.
To create my sharing rule, I go to Setup > Security Controls > Sharing Settings.
I then scroll down and click New next to Account Sharing Rules.
First I'll name the rule and provide a description
Next, I setup my sharing rule by specifying that I want to create a rule based on criteria,
and then set the criteria to Region equals West.
Finally, I select the public group I want to share the Opportunity records with. In
this case it's my Western Sales group. And then I give this group Read/Write access
to the Account records. Accounts have child objects, so we'll let
the Call Center Reps have Read/Write on any contacts or cases, but we'll keep Opportunities
private.
Once I save my new rule, it immediately goes into effect.
With Criteria Based Sharing rules, you can satisfy very complex business scenarios easily,
without any code. For more information see the following topics
