In this video we will learn how to use Autopano Anti-ghost feature using masks in realtime with Photoshop (or any other photo editor)
In this panorama, we have a bike rider on every photo.
The fast preview renders 3 bike riders. We want to select which one to keep or remove.
In this example, we are going to mask the center bike rider
Now in Photoshop
Add a layer mask and select the Eraser tool
Adjust radius according to your needs 100% opacity 100% hardness
Important: Select the layer mask, not the pixels.
Erase roughly unwanted parts, no need to make a fine tuned cut out
Save the file (See related doc. about file format)
Return to Autopano Right click on the file and select «Reload image» or press F5
The quick preview now processes the new file ...
A new render is done: Autopano algorithms have removed the bike rider from the selected photo
We can see the layer mask in the «Images mode»
Now imagine we decide to keep only the bike rider in yellow and remove all others.
Back in Photoshop, we will apply a layer mask on every photo with the bike rider with: Eraser Tool, 100% opacity, 100% hardness.
(Fast motion) Add mask on every photo: Eraser Tool, 100% opacity,100% hardness, rough cut out, save each file.
Here we don't mask the element we wish to keep: The yellow bike rider.
(Fast motion) Then we continue adding layer masks: Eraser Tool, 100% opacity,100% hardness, rough cut out, save each file.
Back in Autopano: We select all photos files (Ctrl+A) and right click on it
Click «Reload images» or press F5.
Click «Preview» button
Rendering the preview ...
Render is done: Only our yellow bike rider is kept on the final panorama. Next step: Remove all bike riders.
To remove all the bike riders, we edit the existing layer mask with the Eraser tool in Photoshop. Take care to erase the layer mask and not the pixels!
Autopano: Right click on the photo and select «Reload images».
Render is done: Every bike rider has disappeared. Next Step: Choosing which bike rider to place into the panorama.
Let's choose which bike rider we will place into the panorama
To achieve this, now we only need to disable the layer mask on the bike rider we wish to see on the final panorama. Shift+Click on the layer mask to disable it.
Autopano: Right click on the photo and select «Reload images».
Now Autopano has only placed the bike rider without fusion mask. (on the left)
Let's change the bike rider on the panorama. We do the same as previously but with another photo.
We disable the layer mask only on the bike rider we wish to keep. Shift+Click on the layer mask to disable it. Click to enable it.
In Autopano we reload both photos to see the results. Right click on the files and select «Reload images».
Now Autopano has only placed the bike rider on which we removed the layer mask.
In Photoshop, let's keep only the grey bike rider (on the left). But we need to retrieve the yellow one.
To retrieve/keep => Use the Brush Tool. To remove => Use the Eraser Tool Radius to your needs, opacity 100%, hardness 100%.
To remove the yellow bike rider and keep only the grey one, we erase roughly the zone where he is with the Eraser Tool.
Back in Autopano ... But we forgot to re enable the layer mask on the previous bike rider ... Let's go back to Photoshop
We select the photo with the mask disable and we enable it. (Simple click on it)
In Autopano we reload both photos to see the results. Ctrl+click to select both files and right click, then select «Reload images».
Now Autopano has placed only the grey bike rider according to our layer mask.
In Photoshop, we choose to place a single bike rider of our choice ...
This one for example ... We disable the layer mask (Shift + click)
Now we have to remove both bike riders on this photo, we will use the Eraser Tool to edit the layer mask.
To retrieve/keep => Use the Brush Tool. To remove => Use the Eraser Tool Radius to your needs, opacity 100%, hardness 100%.
In Autopano we reload both photos to see the results. Ctrl+click to select both files and right click, then select «Reload images».
Now Autopano has placed the bike rider of my choice through layer masks.
