Hi there it's Rob from e2save and today I'm going to give you a peak into the BlackBerry
Q10. What make's it great and what are the key features?
The stand-out feature for the BlackBerry Q10 has to be it's QWERTY keypad, you have the
full range of keys. What I quite like about it is down the middle you can see they are
grooved in slightly different directions. This is just to complement your two thumb
texting, or if you have those long emails, it will help you type faster.
The handset's not too big overall, which means even just one handed, it's quite easy to reach
the opposite side of the keypad. It's not just a QWERTY smartphone, you have the full
range of touch features.
As I start typing, I can use the touchscreen to give me predictions of the next word I'm
going to write. Just like that!
So the Q10 comes with BlackBerry 10 installed and this gives you a good fluid user experience.
You can see there it swipes between menus effortlessly. One thing I just want to show
you, BBM, the messaging service for BlackBerry smartphones. If you watch our Z10 video, we
have a demo of BBM Video in action, it lets you video call your friends over a mobile
or Wi-Fi connection as well as sharing your screen. Some really good features there, check
out our other video. Those features are available on the Q10 too.
What I'm going to do, is load an application. Once it's loaded, if you're in the middle
of something, quick swipe up from the bottom, and you can see it loads up your task manager
which is essentially all the active frames that you have open. You can have up to eight
open up at any time. As soon as you open up a ninth one, your oldest one will automatically
close. It's a really good way to keep on top of the functions you're doing and to ensure
that battery life doesn't drain too much.
1.5 GHz dual core processor inside the BlackBerry Q10 means it's quite good at multitasking
as well. If we just have a quick peek to the left, we have the BlackBerry Hub. This is
your home for all your phone messages, email, social updates such as Facebook and Twitter.
You can easily reply to any of these from directly in there. Just to show you how good
this task manager is, if you do a quick swipe you go straight to the hub and send an update.
OK, so if you're after super fast internet speeds, the Q10 comes with 4G connectivity.
It's the new mobile data network that's currently being rolled out across the country as we
speak. Really future proof there. One thing to note as well is a HTML5 test. This is essentially
how well the phone browser supports HTML5 and currently BlackBerry 10 is ranked number
one ahead of Chrome, iOS, Firefox. It means you're going to get a really good user experience
on the internet. All the latest HTML5 pages should load up properly on this device.
One other thing just to highlight is that the screen is a square screen. If you're watching
video's from YouTube or BBC iPlayer you can see that they don't fill up the whole screen.
One way to overcome this thankfully is the microHDMI port on the side of the BlackBerry
Q10. Makes it really easy to just hook up to your TV and watch on a bigger screen.
When you've got a quick photo that you need to take, just hold down this button from the
lock screen, and you can see it loads up in under a second. Gets you straight into the
camera. We have a two megapixel with 720p HD on the front and a 1080p, that's full HD
video with 8 megapixels on the back.
Just to give you a bit more info, you can either shoot in the aspect ratio of the screen
which is 1:1. It's maybe ideal if you want a Facebook profile picture. You have 4:3 there
and 16:9 which is the more common for video.
Just to give you an example of some camera footage, on the Q10. I went to Bradgate Park
over the weekend, really nice day. Plenty of colour in the picture. This is a macro
shot so really close up. Plenty of detail. I shot in the 16:9 ratio. Just to show you
here as well, another great picture with plenty of colour.
So that's the BlackBerry Q10 in a nutshell. Overall, it's great to see a high tier smartphone
that does come with a QWERTY keypad. It's essential if you're going to be writing those
long emails, so much easier than trying to write it on a full touch screen device. Obviously
Q10 aswell, there a plenty of relevant, up to date tech features such as 4G connectivity
and Full HD video recording. Overall really nice device BlackBerry. Now available to buy
at e2save.
