I am a mother, a daughter and friend. I am a sister until my life ends.
And when my life ends, I know where i'll be. South East of Japan, a town called Taiji.
Where I am now, I'm not sure I know. Nowhere to run, and nowhere to go.
I was just swimming, on my way home, teaching my children the route I was shown.
Where my family have traveled generations through past.
Thousands of miles, to find food at last.
But something happened to block our way, a wall of sound that I fear every day.
Long metal poles enter our sea, driving us forward with nowhere to flea.
They keep on banging, these metal rods, dividing us up into two separate pods.
My son has been taken, I still hear his cry. Everyones scared, we don't want to die!
***. ***. A thump and clang.
We are surrounded, I jump up to see, and now we are swimming straight to Taiji.
Panic and fear, the shore ever near.
Further we're drove to the infamous cove.
Silence falls, the water still, the killers have gone, they've had there thrill.
But what of us now, we simply must wait, we pray for our friends and fear for our fate.
Night time falls and still we are here, we cannot sleep with this much fear.
Hours have past and morning arrivers, killers return ignoring our cries.
Hands reach into the water and grab, whilst others around me they continue to stab.
The blood of my family I am forced to drink, I look all around, see dead bodies sink.
And now you ask, what becomes of me? A miserable life of slavery.
I put on a smile, to please the crowd, ignorance is bliss, they cheer so loud.
In the town of Taiji where waters run red, I grieve for my loved ones as now they are
dead. The slaughter is over, at least just for now,
this has to stop, we can change this somehow.
Hope is not lost, help is in sight, infinite patience will win us this fight.
Guardians of the cove, shepherds of the see, tell my story to world so my cousins can be
free.
