In this video we're going to have a look at basic questions
and the three response types available within the
Structured Questionnaire Building Language [SQBL],
how to create these using the "Canard Question Module Editor"
and how to preview what they might look like paper or web-based questionnaire.
So we'll start by adding a question in
And this question is going to be a plain text response for respondent to fill in:
"Do you have any comments on this survey?"
I will refresh that, and we can see a question appear.
Now we don't need to change anything because we already have a text response,
because this is the default response type available in SQBL and Canard.
So there's nothing else to do.
What we'll do next is add a second question in and this one will be based on a codelist.
So again we had add text:
"Did you enjoy filling out this survey?"
We can switch to our response pane
and we'll add a codelist and get rid of the original text-based response.
So here we can add a code, with the value "n" and the text "no".
Now I add a second one, "yes" and the text "yes".
We can refresh again and we can see
the rest of our survey a starting to come together.
Lastly, we'll add a third question and this will be on a numbered response.
So we'll add our number in and we'll get rid of the original text,
and will start adding the text for the actual question itself:
"What was the time taken to complete this survey?"
And we'll switch back to response area and refresh to see what that might look like
Now, we don't know what type of time they're asking for so we can add a suffix
that attaches a unit to what this is,
and for that we could just add "minutes" and refresh again.
Now we can see that we've got some more information in the pane on the right.
So those are the three main response types and in the next video
we're gonna see how we can bring these together and add sub questions
to start getting more complex information from respondents.
Thanks for watching!
