Jared letter won an Oscar for supporting actor in at Dallas buyers club and his
speech has ruffled a few feathers because he mentioned politics and he
also mentioned the LGBT community but people feel that he did so
very big leap so I when it comes to politics is that the following
to all the dreamers out there around the world watching this tonight in places
like the ukraine
and then as well I wanna say we are here and as you struggle to you to make your
dreams happen to live the impossible
were thinking about you tonight now people felt that he was being too
political there
%uh russia was actually supposed to broadcast the Oscars but then they
decided not to and some people are thinking it's because it his comments
about the ukraine up but I think that that's a little bit of an assumption
apparently made in what I mean it was a five hour long
big they don't want to put it I email during all this unrest in the ukraine
right now
newt Scruton it was because we were just absolutely insane it's the Oscars they
watch it all over the world nobody cares that is five hours they were they got
something better to do with those five hours in
rusher probably know it's propaganda 101 measure doing just like
CD-rom scratching their *** near now maybe a little ***
no the author K people now know I noted that the
like jobless people russia but there's no way putting it
or somebody in his government did make that decision because letter said
ukraine
guaranteed okay so that there's that element they said they're going to
broadcast it later but an edited version
I'm so it's not quite as long how much how much you wanna bet that the ukraine
ports not it
yeah up so another part of his speech did touch
on the LGBT community and if you can remember back during the Golden Globes
when he
won the same award for his role in Dallas buyers club a ***
community outside the transgender community was very very upset about
the way he did a speech because they felt that he be little their community
are so here's what he said during the Oscars Andrew 36 million people who have
lost
the battle to aids and to those you out there
who have never felt injustice because of who you are or who you love tonight I
stand here in front of the world
with you and for you I think that the criticism of Jared Leno on the score has
been so almost
unfair criticism I have ever seen okay now
the in his first Golden Globe speech when he talked about the waxing in
seem to make light of things a little bit would I think you could have gone
either way I'm at
I would have said that it was like and its easy for me to say cuz I'm not
transgendered a that it was not a big deal that he was joking like oh so we
don't
I don't think we have to be somber wanna I don't think any the lower edge
Joe C made went over the top in ridiculing yeah the trans community or
any I gotta be I will be 100 percent against them
it was a joke a day like no you should consider dole's speech on how
though that fight is really important let me go I want the audience to judge
for themselves so let me read you what he said during the Golden Globes
it was a very transformative role I had to do a lot of things to prepare what
other things I did was watch my entire body including my eyebrows
I'm just fortunate it wasn't a period piece I didn't have to
do for brazillian ladies you know what I'm talking about
and so do you some love you man I think so
people were upset because they felt like he was belittling the transgender
community
and I I have to agree with jane gone and I i mean
he's not going to use that moment to go up there
and give a speech on what's going on well maybe he could but he didn't feel
like doing it at that moment you see what I'm saying like
you can't take an actor instead make him like the poster child for your movement
you can't force them to do that
you know if that's not something you want to do you just can't force them to
do so as you BT community have a
really interesting about criticism adults buyers club they say
well there's plenty of transgender actors the
an actress is why don't you use that means that I'm using sure that I okay
but I don't necessarily agree with that i think that if you want a you
hatcher if you if that produce them with OJ let it was the best actor for that
okay raid that's their decision to make and maybe they want to get more
publicity is a more well-known actor
and it wound up working was a good movie it's a mess some people even disagree
with that but at least it's
I get it like hey don't don't put somebody in there that
doesn't know that role intimately it said although although I thought he did
a good job though some complain it's a
but then to say that he's not representing them well enough
in his acceptance speeches I me to give you a sense of how unfair
the criticism is in my opinion the same person who wrote the criticism %uh the
first speech in Golden Globes in turn around
and analyzes accept a speech here gave him credit for
hey at least he talked about the injustices in being who you are and all
that stuff
%uh of course mentioning the ukraine a bit as well on acceptable
right how dare you do talk about anything but LGBT issues
hope so he cares about you create a bit this week is where protesters that's
great this about yeah
okay we we we and then during the red carpet apparently he talked about who he
was really lucky
to have been a part of this movie as a clue I don't even understand the
criticism sled explain it to me
so it turns out no self-indulgent when he should have been talking about
trans people told come on dude come on man dats beyond all boundaries in terms
of criticism
and then they said that his tribute to his mother or which I thought was
actually really touching
yeah I'm was lengthy and banal
Tam hand that's cold birthday
I it's way too high a standard it really is
he's an actor he even asked to be a spokesperson for
entire community of people he's an actor playing a role
if you disagree with how that character was portrayed I think that's a
legitimate criticism but because I do
see how his character really pushed a lot of stereotypes about the transgender
community
but to say hey you know what you're very short acceptance speech didn't touch on
these very very complex and nuanced
issues is a little unreasonable love you them one more
shower for the fair criticism in the movie The Dalles buyers for the guy who
is *** Medina County the main character
they say straight and it's based on real-life events but in real life it
appears that he was not just raid
and they say he was bigoted in the movie but in real life it turns out he was not
bigoted
and he was bisexual so that's a big change in the story and there was no
character rayon which is the 1i Jay Leno played that was amalgamation of what the
writers and producers
bought a trans person would act like so those are really I think totally fair
criticisms
the movie right especially because then they you need a straight guy writing to
the
rescue of all the gay people like they did done in movies for a long time
wear white guy comes in rescues black people and he's the hero or the natives
and he's the hero itself right so that's Hollywood 101 that's fair
but when you get into this guy who do I thought it'd be a perfectly good job in
the movie
and he's giving shout-outs et cetera and you say it's not enough it's not enough
it's not enough
then you seem unreasonable
