Hi, Wayne here from Headsets Direct.
A quick video on why you need the Plantronics
26716-01 Cisco cable.
So first off,
here is the cable, and it's about 8 to 10 feet long, so it gives you good reach
from your phone,
and this cable, again the 26716-01,
is specifically made for most Cisco phones. Now you need to check compatibility,
because older Cisco phones require
an amplifier, but newer phones worked with Plantronics, so they could
build the amplifier into the phone,
and you can use just this cable. So the cable's less expensive than the amplifier.
The only negative of going just for the cable,
you don't have any way of controlling your out-going voice volume. So as long as you have
the average voice volume, you should be fine. If you have a quieter voice volume,
you may want to consider looking at one of our other videos and looking for the
amplifier to work with your headset system.
So the way this works, the modular clip plugs into your port, usually you have a
headset port on your Cisco phone
and then on this side is the quick disconnect, so this is where you'll pick
any of the Plantronics H Series headsets, and it will plug into this quick
disconnect.
And when you're using a headset, why the quick disconnect is valuable,
if you need to walk away from your desk to go grab information or go talk to a
co-worker, you can simply pull apart at this connection and leave the headset on,
so you don't need to reposition the headset every time.
And that's a benefit of any of the good Plantronics commercial-grade headsets;
they all have this quick disconnect
and when you walk back,
you simply plug back into that quick disconnect, and you're talking to your caller
immediately. You don't need to put them on hold on the phone system, it is all done
right here through the headset.
so again, this is the Plantronics 26716-01 cable for
Cisco phones.
