Using Adobe Digital Editions to transfer an ebook
to an e-reader on a Windows seven
or earlier computer. To complete this
you will need a library card, Adobe Digital Editions,
registered and installed on your home computer, and e-reader
and a USB cord for your e-reader. First
if you're not there yet go to our online collection
at www.ohioebooks.com
type
Ohio e-books dot com in the open space
at the top of the browser window.
First find an eBook you'd like to check out.
You can search for an item by title by clicking on the search box and typing
the title
or by choosing a genre from the menu. Today we're going to look at classics.
Here are some items labeled as classics. You can tell if an item is available
if the icon in the right-hand corner is dark. For example
B is for Betsy is available.
When you click on the cover of a book you can learn more about it.
Make sure the ebook you wish to check out is available
in a format compatible with your device. In general
the EPUB format is compatible with most devices.
If you have questions about whether your device is compatible
please ask your local librarian. Now let's click on borrow to get started.
you will now be prompted to select your library
either type the name of your library in the box or click on
"View full list" to see a complete list of libraries.
After you select your library, you will be prompted to enter your library card
number
and in some cases your library cards pin number.
After you have entered this information click on
"Sign in".
Click on the upside down triangle to view the drop-down list of formats.
Click on "Adobe EPUB eBook".
Depending on which version and type of web browser you are using
this box may appear differently. This is how it will appear in Internet Explorer

Click on "Open."
Depending on your connection speed to the Internet your download may take
several moments.
Your ebook should are open automatically in Adobe
Digital Editions. Now
click on where it reads "Library".
Here you will see all of the e-books you have downloaded.
Now take your USB cable and insert one
end into your e-reader and one end into your computer.
You should now see your device listed in Adobe Digital Editions.
When you're ready to transfer the item to your
e-reader click and hold down on the mouse
on the cover other item
then still holding the mouse button down
move the cursor to hover
over the device you wish to transfer the item
to. When a green plus sign appears
you'll know that it is ready to be transferred.
at that time let the mouse button go.
Congratulations your ebook is now on your
e-reader. If you want to double check that it's there
click on the icon of your device. This will show you all the library e-books
on your device.
