new message from Michael the message says hello
everyone. would you like your text messages read to you? if so
here is how
hello everyone Michael here with the daily note 2 youtube channel and welcome to
another episode
today let's look at driving mode in detail
to go to driving mode go to settings
language and input
text to speech output and you should see driving mode there
you could hit the switch or you could tap on the text itself and go to
the other options here and you could enable it for all these things
and as the name suggests driving mode is there for you to be used when you're
driving
but i find it useful in other settings as well for example if you're
by yourself
where the contents
of any text messages you expect to receive know anyone it may be a great
feature for your convenience
let's look at all these settings I'm going to enable all of them
and I'm going to just
show you what they sound like
for incoming calls it will announce the name of the caller 'incoming call from Michael'
message i was surprised to find that it actually reads the name and
the entire message but only for
sms messages
up to 80 characters after eighty characters
messages into a mms message
and only first few characters
are read to you in a mms message 'new message from Michael,
the message says hello everyone
for new emails unlike
messages
they find that it only
tells you the number of messages that you've received 'one new email'
alarm it just announces that time you had your alarm set
the one that's ringing
alarm it is 12:58am
schedule works with your calendar
for example
when you have S planner or your calendar open and you have
an appointment that day and you have an alarm for that appointment 'Monday meeting's 5 minutes before'
the last one the unlock screen
I found it a little bit annoying 'it is 12:36am, 25℉, you have 2 missed calls and 1 unread
message'
imagine every time you try to unlock your phone you got that announcement i
don't think it's
necessary
to enable and disable driving mode you could come here or what i would
suggest that you do is
go to your display settings if you have android 4.1.2
you could go to display settings and go to notification panel and you could put
one of your icons
for driving mode for example when I pull the notification bar down I
could enable or disable driving mode
through there I think it works best
but say that you don't have android 4.1.2 yet
you could do this
you get a widget
called
driving mode widget
it's this one with the ugly car
but the widget itself is not that ugly after you install it
you could place a widget
called the driving mode widget
it is just that dot
you could turn it on
and turn it off just the same
and it works
just as well
one last thing about the driving mode notifications is they all seem to trigger
this LED light if you want that to trigger
if you do want to set that I just want to
quickly show you where
to set that again
just go to your setting accessibility
and just turn off flast notification
for all of those five driving mode notifications you could get that LED light
shining the back
that's driving mode and i really like these features
but
it is something to be selectively enabled
for example and you might be in your office or in your car and it
might be great
but it is probably not appropriate for even when you're
at dinner with your friends
