My name is Anette Herrera and I'm a production tech at A123 in Romulus.
Prior to coming to A123 I was unemployed. I was laid off for two and a half years.
I had heard about it orginally when they announced it on the news
that there was going to be, I think,
four battery plants coming to Michigan.
And, when I heard that I thought what a great opportunity and I wanted to be a part of it.
So, I submitted my application to A123
and I put a cover letter in there
that I would be willing to accept anything and probably a week later they called me,
and then I was hired.
It took a long time and there's a lot of people still out there and they want to work. And
they need jobs. And this is a great start.
It was a little intimidating
especially when you're coming in
and you're doing something that you have, you know, no knowledge of whatsoever.
It's something different and it's challenging and its inventive and its a step to the future.
