With Halloween just around the corner, Los Angeles is getting ready for some spooky fun
as a group of children set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing
googly eye glasses.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
More than 300 people at a non-profit youth centre set the Guinness World Record at a
playground in south Los Angeles. They were part of a charity which provides tutoring
and after school programs to help children stay in school.
And the chief executive of a costume supply company thought it would be a great idea to
set a world record with the crazy eyewear.
The idea of the googly eyes comes from more or less Who Framed Roger Rabbit? when Christopher
Lloyd was wearing googly eyes and they fly off his head, so I was watching the movie
and thought it would be a really good idea, and that's what the Guinness Book of World
Records deemed to be a great idea.
The last Guinness World Record set of people wearing costume eye wear was in 2009, when
4,436 people wore Groucho Marx spectacles in Chicago.
