Nigel Farage got an unexpected shock when he arrived in Kent on Monday afternoon, after
being hit over the head with a placard by an angry protester. The UKIP leader was in
Cliftonville in Margate to address supporters at a seaside hotel, where he had to pick his
way through the group of jeering protesters, one of whom swung his placard- which read
Nasty Little Nigel - at his head.
They came to bar me from actually physically entering this hotel and with intent to physically
hurt me, so that's not very nice. Don't like it, but it's not going to stop me.
Kent Police, which have a large presence in the town for his arrival, said officers were
investigating and have interviewed Mr Farage about the incident.
