So the fifth and six movements of our six movement of the spine series, will be a back
bend, and a forward bend. We need to bend the spine back to open the chest, and prepare
for back bends in our practice, and then we want to do a forward bend, to open up the
spine in the other direction, and prepare for forward bends. Good to know that both
in warm ups, and actual yoga postures, back bends tend to enliven the spine, and give
us courage, and forward bends tend to soothe the nervous system, and help us to relax,
so it's good to know what postures will do for us, so that when we have a need, we can
use the correct posture, so in other words, if you need to calm down, just go into a forward
bend. If you need some courage and determination, come into a back bend, so you can get both
by doing the forward bend and back bend, and you'll get balanced in between them.
