Supta Padangusthasana A or 1. Supta stands for supine, which is lying on your spine,
lying on your back. So you want to start off with lengthen your spine, you're going to
lengthen through the crown of your head, no different than when you're doing your standing
poses, and you're going to relax your shoulders. We're going to use an inhale to extend your
left leg up to the sky. And you're probably going to start off with having a strap, or
a rope, or take your husband's tie. You want to be able to have; I want you to be able
to hold onto the loop, and not the tail. So the way that you'll determine the size of
your loop is the strap goes on the ball of your foot, and then you want to be able to
have your arms straight, so that the weight of your hand is holding up your leg. So you're
not holding onto the strap and pulling, creating more tension in your shoulders than you're
releasing. You're going to actively reach the heel as though it could touch the ceiling
tile.
