Qalandia, Qalandia. Anyone for Qalandia?
No passengers for Qalandia!
Why am I wasting my breath?
For the pole? Please get in my taxi, Mr. Pole
Going to Qalandia? Hope in!
Kimo taxi driver
It's hard here in Palestine. I make about $10 a day to take home to my kids
Others have been out of work for two years; not just a day or two
Their source of income was in Israel
But now, that is closed off to them
Now the most common job here is "unemployed"
One popular new vocation is playing cards
Another specialisation is coffee drinking, which they've learned while sitting around
It's really *** them psychologically, but financially it's even worse
Half the guys have lighters but no cigarettes...
...the other half have mobiles without top-up cards
It's funny, but at the same time you want to cry
I haven't been to Jerusalem in two years, and my taxi line serves Ramallah-Jerusalem
My license from the Ministry of Transport says, "Ramallah-Jerusalem"
But I haven't reached Jerusalem in two years!
It makes me think of the Fairuz song: Each day our eyes travel toward you, O Jerusalem
I even asked a friend to take a picture of the Damascus Gate and send it to me
I miss Jerusalem
Now this line has been cut to Ramallah-Qalandia
In the first Intifada, we could still go as far as Ram. In the second we can only go up to Qalandia
Maybe in the next one, we'll only be able to work in our houses in Ramallah
Many thanks for this heavenly nectar - bitter coffee is my favourite
The saying goes, "Idle hands can learn embroidery",
Here we learn coffee drinking
