-Choir Singing National Anthem-
Good afternoon and Welcome to the city of Ramsey on this special day.
This day is a day that we've been waiting for for a long time in the city
uh...
the parking ramp and things were built
predicated on this stop
and uh... fortunately for us today
is the day that all the construction is going to start
one of the reasons why this stop was
was so important is
as soon as this parking ramp, expanded the parking ramp, it was kind of controversial
we had money to do that but knowing this stop was going to happen
knowing that we had
on the line a two hundred and thirty unit market rate apartment
complex that is going to be built.
Those people are
going to be riders we hope on Northstar
and uh...
it was important for us to get this done.
We've been getting calls already from developers and people that are
interested in the city of Ramsey and The CORE
and uh...
they're very optimistic about our future and of course we are too.
It is my pleasure to be here today
and to help celebrate
this groundbreaking event - what a wonderful time that we can come together
here and take this next step
in this very important project that we've been working on.
Taxpayers, because of the timing, because of the marketplace, can realize significant
savings. It is estimated that from the amount of money that
we thought it was going to take to build this project, we're saving over two million
dollars two million dollars in today's marketplace, it's perfect time to pull
the trigger we're happy to do so.
The construction schedule calls for completion
on around November 16 of this year.
So, it's a quick timetable, building it quickly, were hoping that it might even
be faster than that.
But that is the schedule timeframe and we know that before the
snow flies hopefully,
people will be able to utilize this station.
And it's gonna be part of our regional transit system.
This will connect them to Saint Paul,
it will connect them to the airport, it will connect them to Eden Prairie,
and many more areas
as these transit systems grow around the Twin Cities.
As development grows around here and as congestion grows, the more people
able to maximize this train,
the more we're going to take some of that congestion off this roadway.
it's not the solution for Highway 10
we have other plans for Highway 10, but the reality is it's a is it's a...
segment, a portion of that congestion that we're able to handle.
So thank you for coming...
appreciate your presence here today.
