When the first time I signed my contract
I read everything, like how much my salary would be
the contract said my salary was HKD 3500
my employer asked me to sign
on a paper, writing down my salary
for example from january, february, march
april, I wrote down HKD 3500. But the fact is
they did not give me HKD 3500
only two thousand and then after that I started to think
why does the contract say 3500 HKD? may be the first few months
after interview it would be HKD 2000
But then why does my contract say I receive HKD 3500?
Then I asked, them "Why is it like this?"
even though I do not receive
my salary, I need to sign?
for all the months like May, June and July?
my employer told me that is how administration works, all the maids
do the same thing? Really?
l kept wondering why?
every month I need to sign
receiving for HKD 3500
but the fact is I only received HKD 2000? What's the problem?
Then my employer said "Let me tell you the truth"
This happens to all the first-time maids in Hong Kong
It's the same for everyone
She told me that is how it works and then I asked my sister
who initially introduced me "Is it the same with you too?" "yeah.."
she said the first time she came to Hong Kong it was the same for her, but why
then does the contract not say HKD 2000? why is it
3500 HKD? "yeah.. because you are a new bee..
..and you do not have any experience..
.. for example if you walk in..
.. to an office, if you do not have any experience, of course you..
.. your employer will pay you a lesser salary..
.. you won't get as much pay as a skilled worker.."
But I still said "Why do you write down..
HKD 3500 then? that was the first time my employer
got slightly confused while answering me
I told them "If you give my rights..
like my salary and mandated holiday then I will working with you...
..but if you don't, I will terminate my..
contract, at that time my employer did not let me go
even though they kept all my documents
like my contract, passport and ID card
they just grabbed them away from me
I did not have a choice but I still ran out of the house
but now after I changed my
employer, everything is okay
I have my rights back
my salary and my holiday, everything is good
