This video walks through the steps needed to close out a controlled access project.
If needed, you can get to the login page from the link, Apply for Controlled Access Data,
on the dbGaP homepage. I'll begin already logged in to my mock project.
Under the Actions column on the My Projects page, locate the project and click the link,
close out project.
Please read this highlighted text, and at some point be sure to read the Best Practices
guidelines for destroying the data downloaded from dbGaP. I'll go ahead click, Begin close
out process.
On this Research Progress page you need to provide a summary and answer this question,
then click, Save and Continue.
The Presentations page is used to list any posters or talks by you or your internal collaborators
that are based on the dbGaP data in this project. You should also include future presentations
that have been accepted. If you had no presentations, check this box.
Similar to presentations, here you should list manuscripts you have published that describe
your use of the dbGaP data. Remember that you can input a PubMed ID and the Look up function will populate
these fields for you. I'm finished here, so I'll save and continue.
Please read the text on this Data Security page carefully. Also list any collaborators
not seen here, and describe any data security issues. I'll move on to the next page.
Here we've provided checkboxes for the most common reasons for closing the project, but
feel free to add a reason or make additional comments in the Other box.
We are now on the final page. Please read this text carefully, review the close out
report, which was generated from your input on the pages we just covered, and, if you
haven't already, review the Best Practices guidelines for destroying the data. If you
agree with this signing statement, check I agree and click the button, File Report and
close project.
Your close out request will be sent to your Signing Official for approval. Please use
this page to provide feedback on any aspect of dbGaP data access and use.
