How to subscribe to ETAs and ESAs | ID.TV | Transcript
In this video, we'll look at how to subscribe to receive alerts for EMC Technical Advisories
(or ETAs) and EMC Security Advisories (or ESAs).
We'll also look at an example ETA and manage our subscription preferences.
Because the information in the advisory is important and time sensitive, EMC strongly
recommends that you subscribe to receive ETAs and ESAs for all EMC products.
Let's start at emc.com and look for advisories on the OneFS Support by Product page.
Hover over support, then click Support by Product.
You'll need to log in to your Online Support account if you're not logged in already.
Type 'isilon' in the Find a Product box and you'll see a list of all the Isilon Support
by Product pages.
You can see advisories for any product that's in the list, if any advisories have been issued.
We're going to look at the OneFS page, so click Isilon OneFS and then click the double-arrows.
The advisories pod contains the two most recently published advisories for this product.
To subscribe to receive alerts, click Manage Advisory Subscription. On the pop-out form,
you can choose whether to subscribe to just this product or all EMC products.
You can also choose to subscribe to receive alerts for either ETAs or ESAs or both.
Again, EMC strongly recommends that you subscribe to receive ETAs and ESAs for all EMC products.
We'll follow those recommendations.
Click Save to confirm your selection.
If you want to view more advisories for this product, click View All below the list of
advisories or click Advisories below the Search box.
The list is sorted chronologically with the most recently published advisory listed first.
To view an advisory, click its title.
ETAs and ESAs alert you of potential hardware or software issues that could cause serious
negative impact to a production environment, such as data loss, data unavailability, loss
of system functionality, or anything that could result in a significant safety or security
risk.
The advisories include specific details about the issue and instructions to help prevent
or alleviate the problem.
The "Get Advisory Alerts" link above the advisories list enables you to subscribe to receive alerts
for an individual product. The product will be added to your advisory subscription list,
which you can manage later.
If you're subscribed to receive alerts for all EMC products, clicking Remove Advisory
Alerts will only remove the product from your advisory subscription list. You will still
receive alerts for that product.
To manage your subscriptions, go back to the Online Support home page. Hover over support,
then click Support Home.
Click Manage my profile, click Subscriptions and Alerts, then click Product Advisories.
We can see that Isilon OneFS is already listed because we clicked Get Advisory Alerts earlier.
To unsubscribe from all EMC products, clear the check boxes.
You can then add more subscriptions for individual products. Start by typing the product name
in the box. When you see the product you want, click the product name and then click Add
Alert.
To remove a subscription for a product, click the X.
We're going to re-subscribe for all EMC Products, so we'll select those check boxes again.
When an advisory is issued, an email is sent to the address associated with your account
on EMC Online support. The email contains a link to the advisory on Online Support.
To recap, we went to a Support by Product page to subscribe to ETAs and ESAs for all
EMC products.
We also looked at an example ETA and then went to Online Support preferences to manage
our subscriptions for receiving alerts for ETAs and ESAs.
