NEWBORN’S LIFE. BOARD CERTIFIED NEW YORK CITY BOARD CERTIFIED
LACTATION CONSULTANT ANDREA SYMS BROWN AND HER HUSBAND PETER HAVE BEEN TEACHING NEWBORN
BABY WORKSHOPS FOR A DECADE. THE REASON THEY TEACH THIS CLASS PRE-NATALLY, IS TO HELP COUPLES
BUILD CONFIDENCE AND UNDERSTANDING OF HOW NEWBORNS FEEL AND WHAT A NEWBORN BABY NEEDS.
AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS THE COUPLE PRESENTS STUDENTS WITH A PRETEND BABY AND A NEWBORN
BUNDLE OF THE ESSENTIAL BABY CLOTHING.
(EXPERT: Andrea Syms-Brown, Board Certified Lactation Consultant)
I like to call these your vital supplies. If you don’t see it in the bundle, you technically
don’t need it. There’s a difference between what you need and what you want. Everything
is wrapped in a baby towel. You’re gonna need some baby underwear. Inside this diaper
you should find at least a couple of these cotton balls, or rounds, 1 alcohol prep swab
and couple of cotton swabs. The next layer of underwear is a onesy. The next thing to
get in this little bundle is called a kimono, also called a night shirt or night dress.
It’s something babies wear at home constantly. The next thing are stretchies, jumpers, rumbas,
footies. The idea is long feet and feet completely covered. Baby wash cloth, ahh a receiving
blanket.
