Rebecca McGinnis access coordinator metropolitan museum of art. I have a few
ideas, features of universally designed museum programming.
one of them is
of course that the programs are inclusive, meaning that they welcome
everyone but also but i think it's often easy to say that and then
try to fit everything into one program and i don't think that university design
programming mean that. It's not a kind of one size fits all approach.
i think that inclusiveness in this sense means
you tailor programs and educational opportunities to meet particular needs
and preferences and then you offer choices so that
universal design and programming doesn't necessarily mean that one size fits all
instead it means that the physical, the intellectual, and the psychological needs
of everyone are considered
as the program is planned and implemented. So as a whole all of these
opportunities
add up a kind of suite of programming that that offer universally accessible
experience.
