Why we explore... Or a better question would be, why do humans explore?
Since the very beginning of time, exploration has meant curiosity.... curiosity that comes
from the necessity to acquire knowledge about the things that are all around us, even if
this means being eaten by a T-rex. From the Chinese constellations and their
studies of the mysterious stars, to the Egyptians, and their desire to understand their gods,
represented by important stars in the night sky, to the greatest fathers of science, even
if theirs discoveries were wrong...., like thinking that the earth is the center of the
universe. How crazy!!!
Curiosity has made us explore new things every time we suspect they exist,,,,,, that means
exploring and experimenting until we discover the truth,,,,, and truth by truth we construct
our collective knowledge known as science. But is curiosity a good thing?! Well, it depends
on the level of acceptance of new knowledge that society shows. But we all know that curiosity
is the unstoppable force which pushes our limits further and further every time, making
us go against the ideas of society, taking us to places like the end of the world as
we know it,, just to prove that there is something else beyond.
But exploration gives us new things, which means the new stuff we create can be used
for both, good and evil. But it always means a risk, because if we are not careful, we
could end up doing things we are not supposed to, and end up blowing up the world.
