>> ROBIN: So the other day I was talking to a friend of mine
about my relatively good luck with Seagate hard drives.
Which are usually a bit cheaper than the other competitors
on the market
And, interestingly enough today I’ve gotten two of them.
A 2TB model which is this one and a 500 GB model
which is still in the packaging, which I haven’t
yet tested.
But this one in particular has a weird little quirk to it
see if I can
[shakes drive]
Of course now it doesn’t want to do it.
[shakes drive more]
Well that’s just special.
Whatever pieces that were in it apparently managed to
wiggle their way up to the magnet
Either way this thing rattled like heck when I opened it.
I hooked it up to my computer here to see if it could read
and I can’t even get the OS to recognize it. Even the rattling
before now – it’s actually kind of annoying that I can’t reproduce that.
I’m assuming this drive is DOA and some bits have broken off.
So this would actually be my first Seagate DOA drive.
So I’m going to see if I can send it back and have NCIX
replace it since they’re the ones I got it from.
The warranty label on it, that usually ends up going on
the outside of the package, I put on the drive itself.
Which, I always do when I open drives up because
nobody actually hangs onto this.
So, I’m sure they won’t mind if the label is there instead and hopefully
I’ll be able to get another 2TB drive to replace this one.
And this drive has no rattle to it, so, it should be fine but
I’ll test it afterwards and see what goes on.
A little update on the Seagate drive that failed.
[Rattles drive]
Can you hear that?
When I was packing it up it started rattling again
now it stops. So I think there’s a magnet in there that’s
catching the little bits that are broken off.
Either way the 500 GB model I just tried it out
And that one works fine, so, it’s just this one
That was dead on arrival, so, I’m going to get
In contact with NCIX and see what happens.
