Michele Bachmann, by the way, really bizarre gay marriage gaff. She was giving a speech
in Iowa, I don't know if you heard about this, and she said, here's a quote, "In 5000 years
of recorded human history, neither in the East or in the West, has any society ever
defined marriage as anything other than between men and women. Not one in 5000 years of recorded
human history. That's an astounding fact, and it isn't until the last 12 years or so
that we've seen for the first time in recorded human history marrige defined as anything
other than between men and between women." That's right, Louis, the last time we've ever
seen anyone say marriage and include same-sex couples in that thought was in 1999, go figure.
Very, very new thing.
Now, the first documented same-sex marriage between two men, if we want to deal in fact,
actually took place in Spain in 1061. So she was only off by I guess 950 years. It's not
a big deal, right?
Louis: I think it is a big deal.
David: The two men, Pedro Diaz and Muño Vandilas [mispronounced as Vandillas] were married
by a priest... Vandilas... were married by a priest in a small chapel, according to historic
documents about the church wedding, so on and so forth. With just a little bit of research,
Michele Bachmann could've figured this one out. And actually, same-sex unions, whether
we call it marriage or not, you know, there's a translation and language issue involved,
have existed since... in China since 1000 B.C. 1000 B.C., Louis. The only thing I have
to say, Louis, is Bachmann/Palin 2012. That's my sense of that.
Louis: I'm all for it. I hope that's the ticket. I really do.
David: Yeah. There's no chance, but that would... it would be brilliant.
Louis: I'm going to pray for that.
