This little guy has a complex. Don't ya, Napoleon? Barbi, I can see why you love these donkeys
so much -- they're so adorable. Well, especially Napoleon, he's just a sweetheart. Come here,
Napoleon. He's a cutie. Mozart's ready for a carrot. He is, and I see Rosie back here.
She was born on the property. Oh look at her, she's adorable. She is a sweetheart, and this
is her mama. She's a cutie. And this is the Mediterranean Miniature that I was telling
you about. Right, so this is the one that's really struggling in the Mediterranean -- it's
numbers are dropping. It really is, Allen. And, you know, they're really sweat and known
for their lovable temperament, and they're just great pets for children. And being small,
and I'm a small person, I really enjoy having the smaller size animals. Sure, sure, sure.
They're great watch dogs too. And I feel like they're a lot of protection with my swans
and now our new geese. Well, my donkey, Moose, is a great protectorate at my farm, so I understand.
I've seen him, he's great. A lot of people don't realize that these animals have such
personality, and they're really smart. Oh my gosh, is that not the truth. And love to
watch wherever they're looking because you'll see that they're looking at deer before you
ever even knew were on your property. Right, right. And these big ears they have come in
handy because they can hear almost anything. They're so lovable and affectionate. And of
course, we have carrots, which is a treat for them. But they're just by nature this
way, aren't they? Well, he is for sure. And Mozart, now he's the most intelligent donkey
of the bunch, and I don't know why that is. He's just really a smart animal. He's the
largest one? He is. Yeah. And we don't know really what his background is -- we just happened
to have rescued him. But Rosie, she's been on the property -- she was born here, and
she is probably the one that's most spoiled and not the nicest. But she's a cutie pie.
She is -- she's sweet, but she's, you know, used to getting her way on everything. I see,
yeah. But this one is the most affectionate, huh? Oh yeah, and he's really known for that.
And I hope that more people will be interested in the Mediterranean donkeys and wanna preserve
the breed because they really are special. Now these Miniatures, there are certain standards
that they follow. I am mean, they have to be, to be a Miniature, they have to be under
36 inches tall. Right, correct. Measured here. Right there. Yeah. Uh huh. Yep, okay. And
he has papers, and he really is a good example of what a true Sicilian Mediterranean donkey
would be. Uh huh. Now the numbers for the Sicilian donkey in American are kinda going
up because they're really popular, aren't they? I think they are, and especially for
pets for children because they're so docile and lovable. And the size that they are, I
mean, I'm a small person, and I don't have any trouble managing this size animal. Right,
you don't have to worry about them pushing you around or kicking you or anything like
that. Right. And Mozart, if I don't feed him hay on time, he'll shake his head and bump
my back and tell me to get going, so. Reminding you. Well, what do you feed them besides hay
and carrots? Thanks a lot right there. Thank you. Well, in the wintertime, when it gets
down to a certain temperature and it stays that way for a long time, we'll usually pick
up some grain that Purina makes. Yeah. It's really good. Yeah, blended for equine. Correct.
Equine food, yeah. Barbi, thank you so much for allowing me to see all your collection
of donkeys. Oh, Allen, I love it -- I'm so glad. Well, they're adorable. If you're enjoying
these Farm Raised segments, check in with us regularly and make sure you subscribe to
Farm Raised. Alright, we gotta get our donkeys together and have a donkey party. Okay, I'm
ready. Moose would love to meet this crowd.
