A sound of roaring
from the city
a sound from the temple
The sound of the Lord
The Lord has broken
the rod of the wicked
the staff of
the tyrants
That struck the peoples in
wrath relentless blows
That beat down the nations in anger
with oppression unchecked
All you who inhabit the world
who dwell on earth
When the signal is raised on the mountain, look!
When the trumpet blows, listen!
See, a king will reign justly and
princes will rule rightly
You will take up this taunt-song against the king of Babylon, How the oppressor has reached his end!
How the turmoil is stilled?
Raise a glad cry, you heavens,
The Lord has done this;
shout, you depths of the earth
Break forth, you mountains, into song
You forest, with all your trees
For the Lord has redeemed the peoples,
and shows his glory on the earth
Rise up
in splendor!
Your light
has come
The glory of
the Lord
shines
upon you
Behold, the Lord
the Lord of hosts
lops off the boughs with
terrible violence
The tall of stature are felled, and the lofty ones brought low
Pass through,
pass through the gates
prepare the way for
the people
Build up, build up
the highway
clear it of stones
raise up a standard over
the nations
A sound of roaring
a sound from the temple
a sound of roaring
from the city
A sound of roaring
a sound from the temple
The sound of
the Lord
Voice of noise
from the city
Voice from the temple
A voice of
the Lord
A voice that rendereth
recompence
to his
enemies
