Each Android phone comes with its own launcher which are the screens you see with all your
icons and widgets on. Perfect Launcher is an alternative to your default launcher and
enables you to do lots of cool things.
Here we have a very basic perfect launcher homescreen. You can long press on icons to
drag them around the screen but you can also long press on icons to bring up a range of
quick options like renaming and uninstalling the application.
And if we have a look at the application drawer we can see that the livewallpaper remains
running in the background, which is a nice touch.
But we're just scratching the surface here. Go into the Perfect Launcher settings and
this is where the real customisation begins.
We'll start with the permanent dock at the bottom of the screen. As you can see there
are a great range of options for me to play around with. Right now I am customising the
column length to add more visible icons on screen and then I am making the icons smaller
so they don't squash up against each other.
The changes are immediately reflected on screen so just look at how much more I can add to
my dock. And if I swipe left or right I can add even more icons.
Next we move onto the main homescreens and there are even more options to tinker with
here. Perhaps the biggest change we can do is completely resize the grid so I add more
rows and columns. A 4x4 grid of 16 spaces suddenly increases to a 5x6 grid with 30 spaces.
That's a lot of extra stuff you can add to a single homescreen and a large smartphone
such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 can easily handle this.
A quick rearrangement of my screen and resizing of my widgets and you can see the potential
of having more row and columns to play with.
You can apply these changes to the app drawer too along with other things like transition
effects, transparency, including a search bar and so on. The chances are, if you want
to do something, Perfect Launcher will be able to accommodate.
You can also assign gesture settings to you homescreen to execute certain actions. For
example, I have assigned my task manger to a swipe down gesture. So, if I swipe down
on the homescreen, it automatically launches the task manager. It's a neat way to set up
extra shortcuts.
And finally Perfect Launcher is compatible with ADW themes which means you can go to
the Googleplay marketplace and choose from thousands of different designs that will change
the appearance of your wallpapers, icons and more.
Here are just a few sample but there are so many to choose from that you're bound to find
one that hits the spot for you.
And as a last little treat, press the Rocket Launcher icon to make your applications explode.
Now I've given you only a tiny glimpse of what Perfect Launcher is capable of. So download
it today and make the perfect homescreens. All free of charge.
