There is no work without background music...What's up Social Savvy Sexy Wednesday? Today we're
going to talk about the differences between Google Access and Spotify because I am having
a debate and I need your help. All Access from Google just rolled out a couple weeks
ago and I love it, it's making music discoveries so much easier. The radio feature you are
completely in control of, you could see all of the songs that are coming up, you can delete
them, you can skip ahead, you can move them all around. It is so much better than the
current radio features that we have with Pandora and Spotify. Ultimately you enter an artist,
the song name and genre, or whatever you want and it will create a radio station around
that.
The one thing I haven't been able to figure out is to further customize it, like with
Pandora you can kind of add more artists and add other things. So you can make the channel
better but other than deleting things, thumbsing things down or saying you really like one
particular song a lot to help customize the channel. I haven't really found any other
way. Also one of my biggest issues with it was that I couldn't listen to it on my iPhone
which is why Spotify was sort of winning the debate for a little while but I just found
out that All Access is coming to iOS which is very interesting. So now the playing field
has been leveled quite a bit because I use my music streaming everywhere I go, that's
why I paid for it, because Spotify you can listen to for free if you only listen on desktop.
Google All Access is free for thirty days when you sign up but because it's just rolled
out if you sign up before June 30th you can get it 7.99 a month thereafter. It's hard
to decide though once my free 30 days is up that because I love Spotify, I love my playlists
on Spotify, I love that I can go there and see all of my friends, all of my friends why
because it's tied into Facebook. So many people have Spotify counts now because it makes it
so easy to see what your friends are listening to and subscribe to their playlists. This
definitely helps the discovery a little bit but Google does have a lot more opportunity
for discovery when you're just digging into certain genre, certain artist, certain songs
to help you find more.
The price tag on Spotify is 9.99 a month but like I said it's free if you only listen on
your desktop. If you want to listen on your mobile you do have to pay the monthly rate.
I was going to include Pandora in this video but let's be quite honest I don't even think
Pandora's a contender anymore. Last time I listened to it I thought I was going to kill
myself over all the ads. I know I can upgrade and pay like I'm doing with these other accounts
but I don't want to. It's just not good enough, it doesn't offer enough. And that's another
reason why Spotify and Google All Access are on level playing fields because they will
let you incorporate your own library of music that you already own. So really that helps
to see all of your stuff is in one place instead of going to want place for streaming and one
place for your content. Everything's in one place with both. Which music app are you using,
if any, is there one that I don't know of that might be really awesome as well? Let
me know in the comments and share with me on Twitter at Schmittastic and at Savvy Sexy
Social. Like this video if you are also having a musical debate with yourself. I like to
have debates with myself because then I get to just talk to you guys about it. It's pretty
much the same thing, isn't it?
So yeah, favorite this video if you really like me because you, of course, really like
me. I mean -- and also this week it's my birthday on Friday... yeh.. and if you didn't hear
yesterday for Savvy Tuesday I am donating my birthday to charity: water. So if you want
to help me give some kits, some very clean water that would be awesome, that would be
the best birthday present ever, the link is in the description and no pressure. A dollar
is a dollar. Dollar is awesome in my opinion. Whatever you can do is fantastic. I appreciate
it so much. I am hoping to reach a 1000 bucks... yeah, that sounds good. Okay, I will see you
tomorrow for Social Thursday.
