Holy crap, look at this! Another freakiní Ben 10 game. And since Ben 10 Omniverse is
basically all about time travel...and Chuck Berry...Iíve gone the extra mile. Undertoads,
todayís special guest reviewers, Ben Tennyson and Ben Tennyson! Past and present collide!
Thanks for joining us, guys.
I donít know if this is such a good idea.
Donít worry, Teen Ben. As long you donít bump into Lea Thompson, you should be fine.
How are you, Young Ben? Happy to be here on CGRundertow?
Dude, am I supposed to know what youíre talking about? Or who you are?
Oh, Young Ben! You little alien...guy.
Anyway, guys...Ben 10 Omniverse was just released for a bunch of platforms just in time for
the holidays. Which is very exciting. You guys must be pumped about that.
Think maybe I could try it sometime?
Well...Ben, that depends. I mean...you like repetitive beat ëem ups?
Yeah!
Oh...well, I guess youíll probably like it. See, itís a really simple brawler based on
the cartoon of the same name. Like the show, the game spans two time periods your alien
friend Rook has to bounce between like a pinball. See, if you guys are gonna beat the evil Malware,
itíll take some serious cross-dimensional cooperation.
Now, obviously the gameplay is based on the whole premise of Ben 10, which is the idea
that he can transform into various aliens using a gadget called the Omnitrix. The thing
is, transforming drains the device. So in the game, you can change into thirteen different
aliens...but once the Omnitrix is empty, you have to wait for it to recharge.
Wow, this is a really accurate simulation!
It sure is, Ben. And each alien has unique abilities that make them advantageous in certain
situations. So itís fun to experiment with them and see which one matches your play style.
I donít know about you two, but I really liked Heatblast. Dude sets things on fire,
which is awesome.
Yeah, pretty dangerous stuff.
Hey, how does this Omnitrix work, Ben? I mean, doesnít it hurt to be changing into aliens
and stuff?
Donít worry. Iím a super hero.
I donít know about super heroóyou have a wrist watch. And what are you listening to?
So the game has a nice variety of aliens and plenty of situations in which you have to
take advantage of their abilities...there are also 11 levels, and you can actually upgrade
each alien, which is awesome. But Iíve gotta tell you, this game can get kind of boring,
guys. I mean, itís just the same thing over and over.
Yeah, I said the same thing.
Wow, I appreciate the honesty, Ben. And on that note, this game doesnít show much evolution
from prior Ben 10 games, uh...and itís also a little buggy at times. Like here...thereís
supposed to be a launch pad for me to jump to that fence, but the thing never appeared.
I had to restart the level, and thatís kind of annoying.
Yeah, I said the same thing.
Alright. Now youíre just f*cking with me, arenít you?
I said the sameó
Oh, come on!
So guys, I guess the verdict is...if you liked prior Ben 10 games, this one should be on
your radar. Itís pretty much the same game. Of course, thatís also the problem with this
one, but...
Weíve got to get out of here.
Oh...why? Something wrong?
In about five seconds, this place is going to be overrun with bad guys.
Wait, what? Bad guys? Where are you going?
I think we lost him.
Youíre hiding under the desk, Ben. Thatís not losing me. I can still see you.
Are you saying youíre from the future?
*sigh*
