hi this is a tutorial on how to do a standing back handspring
they are used in gymnastics, cheer and sometimes dance dance please do this on a soft surface
like grass or a mat
the first thing you need to do is stretch
so stretch your legs like you normally would
now stretch your wrists
so you won't hurt them when you land
and also your ankles so they don't get too hard of an impact
stretch your back so you won't hurt it during the back handspring
you should have a back walkover
you're not scared to go backwards
you should also have a back limber
so you get the shape
most important is a handstand because you transition through that
position in your back handspring
you should do dive handstands to get your hands stronger for your back handspring
doing dive handstands can give your wrists the feeling of doing a back handspring
practice swinging your arms up so you get the feeling to go
make sure you keep your hands by your ears, make sure you don't throw your
head back like this
you can also add a little hop to it you can also practice jumping up for height
and get higher and higher
then you can start jumping back on a mat or couch
lastly you can practice fast back limbers with the swing
have someone spot you with their hands on your thigh and your back
have them spot you less and less until they spot just your thigh or just your back
you should also learn it on a trampoline first so your not scared of going backwards
the first step is a nice swing into a sitting position with you hands approaching your ears
the next step is a jump with a nice arch with your legs together
the next step is the impact where your hands touch the ground
you should be in a handstand-ish position
your back handspring should look like this
once you have your back handspring you can do different variations like back handspring step outs
a combination of skills
some tumbling
the and then you can move on to things like back tucks and back whips
dont be sad
some point you probably will fail fall or
hurt yourself but you should just try again
i hope this tutorial helped you get your back handspring or one step closer
