Hi, we're in Tiong Bahru which in the heart of Singapore between
Orchard Road and Chinatown and in one of its car parks is one of my favorite
restaurants
in all of Singapore. It's great Chinese food, very reasonable prices
and in a historic environment. The restaurant is called Por Kee Eating House
and is situated on Seng Poh Lane. It's in a car park surrounded by these beautiful
art deco buildings, built back in the nineteen thirties prewar. These are some
of the dishes that you have to order
Now get the champagne pork ribs, the long version;
they come in long or short. The short are easier to share but the long version is just so
much more tender.
How can you not love this? Their cereal prawns
are probably the best I've tasted on the island. Get them without shells,
it's much easier to eat that way. Now this one's not on the menu,
its claypot crab with vermicelli.
Vermicelli is like a glass noodle. Their homemade tofu is also
really silky smooth and of course, Kang Kong which is the staple
vegetable in this region. If you want to take the MRT, the closest MRT is Outram
station
which is about seven to 10 minutes walk. Otherwise, just tell the taxi driver to
go to Tiong Bahru Market, it's just a walk from the market.
If you've been to Por Kee, do let us know what you've thought of it by leaving a
