Hello out there in shoe learning to draw land. I'm Laurel the fashion expert. Today I'm working
on drawing flat shoes. Different variations. This one is going to be my version of a gladiator
sandal. This one I have shown to crisscross up the calf and tie behind the leg or should
you choose, in the front, it doesn't really matter. But I'm going to show you how to reproduce
this and then work on your own as far as customizing it to your specifications. Alrighty our first
step since these are gladiator sandals and they're gladiator flats the making it true
to gladiator form, we have a very, very thin sole on the bottom. So let's start out by
drawing that. And there's your small, barely noticeable heel. Then we can do any sort of
strappiness that we want. Gladiator sandals have a lot of strappiness. They have lacing
up, it depends on how high you want them. I have these just going to the bottom of the
calf muscle. Do whatever you want to do as far as that goes. These I have for the foundation,
well the foundation is the sole obviously. But what holds your foot in the shoe are these
straps right here and then this is what laces it altogether. So I just did some different
design lines. You can feel free to make up your own but you need to have something that
anchors it at the heel and then you need to have something that holds your foot in the
shoe on the instep. It needs to have it holding on the ball of the foot and then the toe.
Basically all the points of pressure and all the points of movement on your foot. When
you're doing a sandal that's so flimsy you need to make sure at those points you do have
something that is substantial in order to have it be a functional shoe. So we have,
and again, do whatever, don't copy my design lines , make your own because you can probably
come up with something a lot more creative. This is just a rudimentary gladiator sandal
that I'm showing you how to do. So you follow my drift down. And then I have it lacing up
the calf and tying in a bow at the back. And there you go. Welcome to the coliseum. You
are now a gladiator.
