Heya playas, have you ever wondered why the price of a McDonalds hamburger hasn't gone
up in decades? Wouldn't inflation affect the cost of a Big Mac too? Unless there's another
part to this story that we're not being told. This is The Josh Speaks. You're watching The
Josh Speaks. I just finished reading the book Meatonomics by David Simon and my first thought
was man, this world freaking sucks.Yes, I'm not gonna lie. I am a meat eater but I try
my best to only eat organic if that counts. Besides that, let me tell you what the big
ol' meat industry does that you don't even know about. Laws like the Ag-Gag laws and
the food defamation laws are completely managed by corporations. The men in suits have so
much hand over the decision making process that they can prevent people from criticizing
their industry or investigating it for animal cruelty. They can literally sue you for exposing
the bad stuff they do behind the scenes. And because of that, farm animals literally have
no rights because there's no one there that can protect them. So the ethical dilemma of
animal cruelty is kinda being swept under the rug by corporations but let's say you
can care less about where your food comes from. Whey is Meatonomics so important? There's
more. The USDA and the FDA are two organizations that are supposed to make sure that we're
not consuming food that's bad for us. But guess what, the corporations are the ones
whose running them. They use government messaging to force propaganda down our throats and then
create fake research studies to make us believe that eating lots of meat is good for you (Buy
more!). Eating lots of eggs is great for you (Buy more!). In fact, with all the additives,
substitutes, preservatives and ingredients put into our food, you might as well throw
"healthy safety" out the window. High consumption of meat is linked to obesity, cancer and diabetes?
Eh. But lets say you could care less about all this healthy eating mumbo jumbo. Don't
worry, there's more. The main reason why meat and dairy have been able to maintain the same
supermarket costs for the last few decades is because the real costs are dumped on us.
And that's not just for meat eaters, everyone pays higher taxes to make sure that these
food prices stay low. That $4 Big Mac that you order should really be $11. But the price
can remain so low because the corporations have convinced us that their products are
not unhealthy. Yet cigarette companies have to pay millions of dollars in taxes which
you see reflected in the price of their product. So if you care about at least one thing, it
should be saving money. And how exactly could you do that? Meatonomics lays the solution
out pretty clearly. On a normal consumer level the answer is simple, cut back on the amount
of meat and dairy that you eat. And if you have a much stronger willpower than I do,
cut out meat completely. And in doing so you'll be saving animals, saving your own life and
saving more money in your pocket. Because if you're still buying into the system, you're
not really doing anything to help change it. I want to know what you guys think though,
how hard would it be for you to eat less meat and dairy? Leave your comments below so we
can talk about it. I thought Meatonomics was an amazing book, and if you want to learn
more about how you can start changing the world, pick up a copy and read it. As always
guys, love and peace. Hey thanks for watching. If you're new to the channel make sure to
