Hello my name is Deborah Cane, I'm the Hoard project manager
and my part of my job is making this whole project happen,
and I'm working here with Cym and Deborah also on the conservation of the objects.
I've been working on this tiny little filigree panel. I'm not even sure whether you'll be able to see
this in shot but I'm just pointing at it here with my thorn that I've been using to pick off the soil.
We'll see if we can get a closer shot.
Here's the filigree panel I've put it on my hand to see if it would you some kind of scale
and also put a scale next to it and it is just 15mm long so it is absolutely tiny.
Again you probably can't see much detail because it has still got a lot of the soil on it,
but what we'd hope to do post some of these images onto the website
so you can see them once they've been cleaned.
Hello I'm Cym I'm one of the conservators for the Hoard and today I'm working of a piece of silver gilt foil.
This object is a thin sheet of silver that has been gilded and its broken into 3 pieces.
Today I've been working on removing some of the tarnish so that the design and detail of the surface can be seen.
Hello I am Deborah M and I am one of the conservators for the Hoard.
The piece I'm working on today is made of gold and garnets.
The cleaning of this object has revealed much damage and the loss of garnets and garnet cells is quite conspicuous.
The equipment I'm using to clean this object is a combination of the Meiji Techno Microscope, with magnification
from 7.5 up to 75 which is quite ideal for cleaning these kind of objects, and the Infinity software
with a camera that connects on to this laptop, this allows me to see magnified images of these objects on the screen
but also and most importantly to take very nice pictures of the details of these objects.
