>>Cindy Hensley McCain: If we don't pay attention to Congo and other parts of Africa, the bad
guys will pay attention to what's going on. >>Nicholas Thompson: But can't we make the
argument that we have no hope. Of any place in the world that we're not going to be able
to understand, it's the Congo. I mean, Eastern Congo. Who are the good guys there? The Hutus
came, killed the Tutsis. They're now in Eastern Congo. We have a president who's been indicted
in the international criminal court. Or presidential candidate. We're not going to be able to figure
it out, so maybe we should just stay away >>Cindy Hensley McCain: No, no. They're human
beings. I disagree. I just think, when you have a population in 25 years that have declined
to absolutely, you know, that most of them now are illiterate and can't read the ballot,
I just don't think, as human beings, that we can step back and say forget it. I just
can't do that. I just believe that we're better than that. And, as Americans, we're looked
to as the beacon. So I just believe that -- I just can't walk away.
