Kiev, September 23 2012. Borispol Highway. An illegal race turns to drama...
Driving at 300kmph The local icon "Che Guevara" lost control of his Dodge Viper. This scandal was all over the media.
"Che Guevara" aka Sergei Chekashkin was a senior official in the Ukrainian Governement.
From this point on, illegal racing is considered a crime.
Kiev is similar to districts for Afro-Americans in New York.
Life here is the same, so chaotic, so extreme and unbalanced.
And, unfortunately the law doesn't decide here, but money
In the Ukraine, street racing appeared after the film "The Fast and The Furious"
Then, everyone decide to do the same thing in the streets of Kiev
This is the 458 model, from 2012.
The first thing that comes into my mind would be a furious adrenaline that you can control
So, firstly we did it on the streets
and then we, myself in particular moved to "legal" to the aerodrome "Chayka"
Street racing is a competition between two cars on a 402m distance.
We invited all the street racers of different clubs to give them the opportunity to compete
on a closed and safe track during the final race of this season.
Unfortunately, accidents sometimes happen, but this problem is starting to improve.
What happens today is one more step to make racing legal in our country
and to involve more people into a normal and safe sport
It's total freedom during those seconds.
You separate from the whole world,
you think about nothing for those 10-15 secondes,
you live only for yourself.
Of course there is risk and danger, but this adds more passion to the race.
Everything depends on the racer. Because danger refers not a car but to a driver.
Our governement doesn't like very much,
But, it's a matter of fact that street racing will live forever…
