Kaunas University of Technology became one of the founders of wind and solar transport alliance.
According to representatives of university,
cooperation of science and business professionals
will result production of electric transport systems
and their components in Lithuania.
We are very happy to be a part of this initiative.
We started working with electric vehicles 10 years ago
and the most of the work was completed between 2004 and 2006.
In time of economic crisis of late 2000's pictured that industry and engineering are the breeders of economy,
therefore we are glad to join this alliance.
During these years we managed to gain all the research equipment and theoretical methodology,
needed for successful work.
We managed to create 3 operational vehicles, based on the methodologies mentioned.
USA department of transport specialists evaluated the work of specialists of Kaunas technology university
and recognized that technology that they've developed is ahead of its time. This illustrates great potential of Lithuanian scientists.
However the technologies were not commercialized due to the lack of funds.
Now analogical ideas are used in mass production of serial electric and hybrid vehicles.
First task is to succesfully incorporate electric components to vehicles.
This involves integration of internal combustion and electricity powered engines.
The first steps were made 10 years ago,
adopting experimental and scientific research.
Specific methodology was generated, however none of the business sectors were interested.
We are very happy that today business is enthusiastic and wants to work together.
Therefore, Kaunas University of Technology is glad to state that all of these methods and ideas could now be implemented not only for theoretical, but most important, for practical implementations.
