Hello, my name is Marie Rogers and i'm the manager at Stonebridge City Farm in St Ann's,
Nottingham. The farm's been here for 32 years and it was started by the local community
for the local community. It's evolved over the years from being gardens and allotments
to being now a community resource. We have animals and we have gardens that are tended
by adults and young people with learning disabilities and difficulties and supported by our staff
who will help them to learn how to look after the animals, how to grow things in the gardens,
how to work in our small cafe, how to work in our little shop. We work a lot with the
adults with learning disabilities to develop their skills, to develop their self confidence,
their self esteem. We have people who have been long term unemployed who again want to
develop their self confidence and self esteem which has been battered somewhat by losing
their job. We are just developing as a social enterprise, which means that we have to earn
the money that we need to sustain the farm. The people who visit us and the people who
work here are from all over Nottingham. Visitors come from far and wide, some even from abroad.
It's free to get into the farm, so you can come any day of the week, you can come every
day of the week. All ages come to the farm from small babies to senior citizens who come
just for a afternoon out to sit and have a cup of tea sometimes in the sun, sometimes
in the cafe. So we really are all things to a lot of people. One of the fantastic things
about the farm is that it brings people together from all different walks of life. Hopefully
you'll come and find Stonebridge city farm in St Ann's.
