Right, well when the patients came in, we already had some nomination forms printed
off. So I would explain to the patient about electronic prescribing and then just briefly
speak to them about it and then ask them if they'd like our pharmacy to be nominated for
the patient. So I'd just get them to sign the consent form, for our records for proof.
We give them a leaflet as well, explaining all about electronic prescribing so they can
have a read in their own time.
When, before we were live we received all the nomination slips with all the patients
details and everything about them. I then entered all the details into our system, so
we had them all logged in, and we had it all on the computer. They've been a lot happier,
they've just come in, they know that their own the electronic prescribing so they just
come in and say 'my prescription has been sent through electronically' so we have it
all ready on our computer to the prescription up.
It just saves time and effort for the patient; they just order the prescription as normal,
come in the same day, or else we deliver it, we have a delivery service as well. We ring
the patient up; 'do you want to collect it? Do you want it delivered?' and then we just
send it out to them. So it's a whole lot easier especially for our elderly patients who struggle
walking, it benefits them. And we just deliver it for them; less hassle for the patients.
