Hi everyone, I’m proud to present you the latest Cré'à'Vapeur’s invention.
I’ve already discussed of it some time ago,
and that object, in it's cruder versions,
has already found some applications in other creations.
Here is the coded rotary lock.
It all started with a simple idea .
Create a lock intended for Live Action roleplaying games
that combine:
A low cost .
A reliable mecanics, so you do not spend
your time repairing broken locks .
An autonomous system.
An easy and fast to deploy solution, cause we all
have something else to do when preparing a LARP, eh!.
Easy to conceal, to integrate it into a more aesthetic
object, and thus make it invisible if needed .
A system based on a code to avoid having to search for
lost keys, like most conventionnal LARP padlock solutions.
An object which covers various era and LARP
universe, from the Roaring Twenties to lightsabers!.
A ludic system which provides fun,
both about using the lock or the competence of hooking it!.
And finaly, Near a 100% customizable object
that can be adaptable to many situations!.
Want to see it?.
Here is the coded rotary lock!.
Actualy, the first one hundred percent functional prototype!.
We'll start with a simple little exemple.
A door to lock?.
I glue the coded rotary lock, and voila!.
The red light indicates that the door is closed .
3 clicks to the right, 2 to the left, and 5 right finally.
The light turns green, the lock is open, and I can enter!.
Of course, this is only the simplest application of this lock .
All is directly setup by pressing the buttons inside the lock.
Just after removing the 4 screws on the front using a screwdriver,
your favorite Swiss Army knife or what ever you want !.
The most basic parameter to change is the code itself.
To enter a new code, you use the dial directly in front, you validate
it by returning it a second time, and your lock is ready to work !.
Your code can be composed of 1 to 8 digits
and each from 1 to 100 in both directions available .
It offers more than billions and billions of different codes
which require a robot working 24 hours a day
7 days a week, for nearly
38 billion years to test all possible combinations .
This is where you'll be pleased to know that you can change
the code without having to remember the previous code .
Now, what happens when someone enters the correct code,
just a red and green LED that switch on the front?.
NO of course!.
This lock is designed to accommodate the larger number of possible
situations, for your LARPs, your crafts, or other inventions .
Front light can turn from red to green, or choose only the
red or the green one… Or simply turns off both of them.
You can also use the 5-volt output integrated in the lock.
Screw 2 wires, and deport a light, a motor or any other little device.
You can configure the lock to make it happen 5 VOLTS
in the closed position or open position.
You can also use the built-controlled switch
integrated into the lock for the use of your choice.
Connect an electric door strike, and it will
activate it when the entered code is valid.
YES!.
You can use this lock as a true lock that actually realy opens a door!.
You can even plug it to AC current to turn on
or turn off a device connected to the lock…
Finally, for the more creative of you guys, you
can even connect a servo motor to the lock.
You just have to set the open and closed position of the servo
using the wheel and it will follow the release of the lock.
Use the servo as a latch, and then you will have the ability
to make a safe or a locked chest, which will open on demand !.
And now, I just have to tell you more about
the hooking system built into the lock.
2 modes are possible, activate either first or
second option in the setup menu of the lock.
Old skool lock picking.
Play Arsene Lupin, and use a stethoscope
you just placed on the lock. If you do not have a 5 bucks
stethoscope, just stick your ear directly on the
lock, and it will be fine !. Now, by rotating, notch to
notch, you hear a little click, which simulates the old mechanics
incorporated into the device. When a number is a
"good one", the click will be a little louder.
You then reverse the rotation, and
repeat the process numbers by numbers.
Do you prefer contemporary or futuristic galactic universe?.
No problem!.
Using another method of picking, and the
corresponding small device, the "hacking tool".
You just have to plug it on the side of the lock, and the VU meter built
into the device, here elegantly concealed in a famous candybox, but
hey, this is just the prototype, the final packaging is not over, er,
well, I was saying that on every good number, an LED will light up.
When the correct code is found, it flashes.
A small observation to tell you that here, at Cré'à'Vapeur,
it is very sustainable, so in order to preserve the planet and
your money, the hacking module does not require batteries, which
make it a very compact and incredibly affordable module!.
The lock itself is powered by a 9 volt battery, but
can also be plugged into an external transformer,
to extend indefinitely its autonomy...
Finally, the button in front of the lock is removable,
you can of course incorporate the lock into the
homemade craft of your choice, then you have to
drill a little hole on the front of your creation,
and pass the rotation axis of the lock thru it.
Everything becomes perfectly integrated, and
aesthetics, your work’s design is respected!.
So, you like that coded rotary lock?.
You think it’s suitable for your
future LARP or homemades inventions ?.
