Hey guys! This is the second version of my Gopro self
leveling mount. This one works entirely differently than the
first version. You can see its mounted right now to shootkind
of parallel with the mount. But you can take off this extension and have
the camera perpendicular to the mount so to speak.
The main component of it is a hydraulic rotary damper in here.
The old version uses weight to ballance it. It was susseptible to wind and it was difficult
to balance but this I built to be more user friendly and hopefully a little bit more robust.
I didn't have any problems with the other one but this one should be stronger.
It just swings the camera like this and its hard to tell but the rotary damper keeps it
from swinging and that's how it levels. Here you can see the camera mounted the different
directions. Kind of in line with the mount.
I'm just using magnetic mounting pads but you can use whatever kind of clamps that you
wanted to mount to whatever object youre mounting too.
The whole permise of this mount is that it keeps the mount level with the horizon whenever
the mounting point changes angle. Right now this is on a backhoe bucket and
when the bucket changes angle the camer stays filming the horizon.
A normal mount would change angle with the bucket so you kind of lose perspective.
Anyway, I'm going to show you a little bit of sample footage and I will be doing a step-by-step
build on this real soon.
