Hi, I'm Ryan, and I'm talking about the 40D here, and in this series we're going to be
going through all of the basic shooting modes. Canon has set up seven different modes on
the 40D to help you shoot very basic photography without much involvement so far as the user
goes in setting the exposure. These are the seven modes: The green square here is the
basic, fully automatic shooting mode. The next icon there is the portrait mode. Then
there is the landscape mode; closeup mode; sports or action mode; and then there is a
night portrait mode; and finally, there is a no flash mode. Like I said before, all of
the settings are locked on these basic shooting modes and the user cannot change the shutter
speed, the aperture or any of the other settings. The ISO is also locked on these other modes.
But they are very useful for getting into a situation very quickly that is pre-designed
to fulfill your needs as a photographer.
