Real life moments
When I was five, I learned I had diabetes.
That meant many changes in my life,
especially concerning my eating habits,
doing insulin injections,
controlling my blood sugar levels,
controlling my physical activities, as well as checking the amount of energy I spend.
I learned these changes really quickly.
Obviously, in a child’s eyes, the injections are the biggest thing,
because that means having to do many shots a day.
That was probably my biggest challenge, along with changing the way I eat.
I’ve worked in many fields, actually.
I’ve worked as a security guard, on call,
in the food industry, working long shifts without any breaks.
Those didn’t give me the chance to check my blood sugar levels as much.
So, I’d lower my insulin doses, and I wouldn’t eat as well.
So, for me, I had to change my lifestyle,
because it was the biggest obstacle to controlling my diabetes.
I landed an office job,
working from 8 to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
Just having a regular schedule, getting up at the same time every day
knowing how my day will turn out,
all of these things make it easier to control my diabetes
because I have a better idea of the amount of energy I’ll be spending in a day.
I’ve had diabetes since I was 5 years old,
which means I’ve tried many glycometer.
I always thought that the product couldn’t really evolve anymore,
so I stopped getting the newer versions.
I’ve been using the same glycometer for a while.
But being able to write down the results of my blood sugar tests
and knowing when I took the test: before or after a meal,
the time of day,
or the circumstances,
that’s not something I had ever gotten the chance to do with my past glycometers.
It’s something I really appreciate with this new product.
It’s an all-in-one glycometer, no separate parts.
Having all of the functions of a glycometer in one machine
means I can take my blood sugar levels much more quickly,
much more directly and any diabetic will tell you,
that kind of consistency helps to better control your diabetes.
