Looking for a way to be more productive?
Feel euphoric?
And get into Harvard?
Forget willpower and discipline
We are talking about performance enhancing study drugs.
And that’s today’s BFD.
Brain Food Daily, BFD.
Hi guys I’m Lilan, we all experimented with drugs when we were younger right?
You know a little ***, pot, maybe some e, shrooms, acid, coke, bathsalts, tcb?
You know kid stuff.
Now the kids who want to get into top universities are focusing on one thing that will really give them an edge.
Adderall
25% of college students admit to misusing ADHD medication.
One in every ten high school students is taking Adderall without a prescription.
And who knows how many are lying to the doctor to get it legally!
Adderall is sweeping the nation, it’s the gangman style of prescription medication!
Wait a second, isn’t Adderall just a study aid?
A magic little pill that makes you think smart and junk?
Stronger, faster, better, longer?
Actually Adderall is a real schedule II controlled substance, on the same list as *** and Oxycontin.
It’s made up of four different amphetamines.
One of which might just be the blue crystal from Breaking Bad.
But like ***, Adderall is addictive
If you exceed safe doses, it raises blood pressure, increases risk of stroke, makes you lose weight, and maybe your hair fall out.
Hello beach body!
So is this cheating?
NFL football players get suspended for taking Adderall and their bodies can take all kinds of abuse.
What do you think it is doing to your 120 lb. lab partner, with that laptop tan?
Adderall could be the most dangerous form of cheating!
Since stealing your algebra final out of your teachers Dodge Stratus.
How did we get here?
Well there are a lot of things that can be contributing...
College admissions are getting more and more exclusive.
Kids are lying to psychiatrists in order to get those drugs.
And maybe schools are placing unreasonable demands on kid's time at home.
Certainly there are a lot of parents putting too much pressure on their kids to succeed.
I know, I had a tiger mom.
I actually had a tiger as a mom, that is a literal statement.
Schools needs to look at kids as more than just grades and test scores.
And parents it's not a choice between an ivy league school or the Laverne college of VCR repair.
I went to a public state school, we had all kinds of libraries.
Gyms too! We had two gyms!
Straight A’s and high test scores look great on college admissions, but paranoia and facial scabs look really bad at prom
If you do think you’re suffering from addiction to prescription ADHD meds it's more common than you think.
