hey it's Rand Wilson. a few people have asked me how i make my iphone and iPad
online how-to videos There's nothing complicated to them, but i would take a minute
and go through each step and show you how i make them
first let me show you how one looks so you know what i'm talking about...
"tap on on general...
and then tap on on software update"
The main thing you probably noticed is that in my videos instead of looking like
this
where it's just somebody holding a iPhone in their hand
they look like this
a perfectly framed image of an iphone on the screen i think these look a lot
better than the handheld videos.. i do this using a program called "Reflector"
it cost thirteen dollars
Reflector turns my computer into a Arplay server that lets me use that
built-in AirPlay mirroring on my iphone or iPad
to transmit everything on the iphone screen to my computer screen
and then the Reflector program
lets me add the image of either an iphone or an iPad frame around it and
records it
then i use quicktime or audacity to record my voice-over using my Blue Yeti
and you may notice that the Blue Yeti is sitting on top of a folded up
bathroom towel i do that just to reduce some of my vibration that comes from the
table if i bump it or if i move the cord around or from my external hard
drives spinning sometimes if i have the gain up a little too high it'll pick
up those vibrations it's kind of annoying i found that the towel really
helps dampin and reduce those noises
and
and then I import everything in Final Cut, edit it all together
and maybe throw in some background music
for talking head shots like this one
usually use my Nikon P500
mounted on a small tripod
right in front of the computer or wherever I'm recording
but as you can see
I'm not recording this on my Nikon P500..
i'm recording this on my new Nikon
D5100 which i just got yesterday on sale at Best Buy.. Get
yourself one
and there you have it. the $0.10 tour of how I do my videos.
