Yeah, well, I mean, you know I was just an awkward teenager, I was an awkward kid growing up and I,
you know, I liked a lot of things that a lot a kids didn't like, like I was a huge Tim
Burton fan
I liked Marilyn Manson in high school, so I took a lot of crap for that.
But, you know, I've always just wanted to be me, do me and that's all I can ever do and I
think, uh, you know the song is beautiful because it's
someone who is very frustrated with just not feeling like they fit in or accepted
and like, what am I supposed to do? What do you want from me?
You know, so I felt like
I've connected very much with that song and I was stoked when Cee Lo picked it for me
and all I could think was
oh I have to crowd surf this is the perfect song, cause I've been wanting to do it
all season...
All season, and I was like, well I couldn't do it on the Mary Lambert song,
that would make no sense,
but I was really excited that I got to do it tonight.
Practice...practice, you know (laughs)
We rehearsed it many times and, you know, when you go back and you watch the recording
and you're like,
oh, you know, I cut the note too short there when I fell back and
you just have to stay in your head, stay in the moment and just trust that
the audience is not going to drop you and kill you.
I don't even remember, I'm pretty sure the first time that I crowd surfed was
at one of my shows
back in the day and yeah, I mean, it's just an exhilarating experience,
it probably was more like a trust fall and then as the years progressed...
and of course tonight it wouldn't have made sense cause I had to keep singing too but
I'll just jump and like hurl myself into the...into the crowd and that's an amazing
feeling, cause you've got that like
Ooh! You know, that nice little...that nice little emotion in with the crowd
and everybody's...
you know, it's nice, like it's a great way to, you know, connect with the
crowd, it's like
"I trust you, don't kill me."
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen would be amazing,
and I've done that for years with my band, and I sing all the parts and
there is a way to do it. Well Freddy did it and... ***, sorry (laughs)
Yeah, I love Freddie Mercury so Bohemian Rhapsody would just be amazing!
Oh my God, well you saw tonight like our interaction.
We're buds! We're buds. Like we are working on a song for tomorrow
and Cee Lo didn't, I guess he didn't know the song
that well cuz we...you know we get it so quickly, it's just given to us,
and, you know, we were just...I was...we were just joking around about it.
He's just...you know, he's just so funny but he's such a professional, you know,
he just got it immediately, and we're like, wow
Oh my God, Cee Lo, you are so amazing! Oh my God! But yeah,
like, I think Cee Lo is just, at heart, he is a...he's a true blood rock'n roller,
You know what I mean? So I think he gets really excited over people like me and
Juliet Simms
so I am thrilled to be on his team, he is the absolute best and he really
cares about his team members. He really does and it...it shows through and
I can't wait to perform our song tomorrow.
