bjbj As part of the factory talk connector, Vantage Point 4.0 offers users the ability
to import factory talk live data tags from the factory talk directory. These can be simple
tags from legacy controllers, OBCDA servers or non-structured tags from Logix controllers
connected to the factory talk directory. Additionally structures such as UDT's or User Definable
Types, can be imported from Logix controllers as well. These types, once imported, can be
used by Vantage Point as part of a plant model, or as perimeters for reports in dashboards.
In fact, Vantage Point 4.0 includes a number of import rules for process items such as
valves, motors, and drives, as well as associated content for those process items, such as trends
and dashboards, shown here, making it easier than ever to get processed data visualized
within Vantage Point. A distinct advantage of using the factory talk live data connector,
is that when tags are also historized in a factory talk historian, those tags are automatically
associated with one another within Vantage Point. This means that when a user requests
a live value for one of these tags, the request is satisfied by the factory talk live data
service. In turn, if a customer or a user asks for history for that same tag, that request
is passed to the historian, which satisfies the request for history. With traditional
OBCDA and other third-party history sources, this would require a separate request for
each of the tags. Take the time to check out the factory talk connector in Vantage Point
4.0. When used with factory talk historian and Logix controllers, it can significantly
reduce the time it takes to visualize your information data. FT Live Data (Logix) Connector
