Hello, welcome to yoga sanctuary. My name's Priscilla Flynn. I'm here on behalf of Expert
Village. This morning we're going to be talking about centering and warm-ups to begin your
yoga practice. So we'll begin with centering. We'll talk about seated alignment, so that
your spine will be long, and we'll also talk about using different props so that you'll
be comfortable. We're looking to be alert, and yet relaxed when we center. So we'll go
over all those tips, as well as talk about the edge in your practice. That place that
you don't want to go beyond, so that you can avoid injuries. And then we'll talk about
warming up. It's important to warm-up before postures; before asana, so we'll practice
the six movements of the spine, so that we'll learn to align the spine to make it long.
We'll learn to do lateral movements; to bend the side from side to side, and we'll also
learn to do twisting warm-ups; to twist the spine on both sides. So we'll talk about the
benefits of all of this, and learn why it's important to have a centering and warm-ups
before we begin a yoga practice.
