FS. FROST: Today, is going to be a tutorial on how to polish the male and female shoe,
obviously, with the female shoe it's one whole body. Whereas, the male, you've got the seperate toe cap and then the body of the shoe there.
Ok, so what you'll need to polish your shoes is: some room temperature water. It doesn't have to. People wonder whether it should be hot or cold.
Room temperature is absolutely fine.
And then I use some Kiwi black polish, which you can purchase from the squadron at a bargain price.
So, make sure you get some of that.
And then I just use some hundred percent cotton wool, which you can buy from any supermarket, really.
Ok, basically all you need to do, is grab a tiny bit of cotton wool
dip it in the cold water and just rinse it out so it's nice and damp, but not so that it's dripping all over the place.
Then what you wanna do is get the tiniest bit of polish. There if you can see that on that camera there. Yeah.
Then all ya gunna do with the polish is just, do small circular motions around the toe cap
and obviously if you're female and you wear female shoes, all the way around the shoe
Making sure you cover all areas, round the gaps all the way around the toe cap.
You'll see the show go very dull, this is when you know you're half way
to completing this layer of polish. It'll go shiny to dull and then it will go back shiny again
So you just keep going until you get that shine
As what it was, when ya started.
Ok, so that's. That's it after the one layer and as you cn see, compared to this shoe.
This has been sat in stores for quite a while and just after one layer, you can see the difference already.
If you cam see that in camera two [CHUCKLE]
So you can see the difference, just after one layer.
Right, so the body of the shoe. As you can see males, obviously different for females. But you've got the segregation from the toe cap onto the body of the shoe.
If you wanna impress on uniform scores, you can use cotton wool all over the body. Which is what I do and the NCOs do.
Or you can brush polish the body, which will bring up the shine.
When NCOs inspect you on parade, the things we do look for is the sole of the shoe to be clean. So if it's not clean,
just get a bit of polish on there and make sure it's nice and black.
Also, around the rim of the shoe, making sure that there's no marks or dirt at all around the rim, so what ya need to do is get a bit of polish
and just wipe it round and making sure there's no,
no mud, dirt or anythin' like that. Around the sole of the shoe
Also, in the areas where you can't access. So, in the grooves of the shoe, I do recommend using
an old toothbrush, just to get into those grooves and making sure you are getting the polish in there too.
That's the end of the tutorial on how to polish your shoes. Urm, just remember, keep watching over this video and it will become second nature.
It takes alot of time, but, once you get going it is easy to maintain your shoes. Like I said, ten minutes before every parade night, that's all it takes.
There are other techniques such as, using lighters and hairdryers, they do work, but you gotta make sure you get the method right.
So if you don't know how to do it come and speak to an NCO on a parade night and we'll show ya how to do that.
